A New Beginning

It all happened too quickly..

From this....to this...

and now... to a working adult

My parents must be so proud of me!

In the past, I always take the path that's common. Friends go this JC, i go, frds take this subject combi, i take, go Uni, i go, frds go toilet, i also go. Now, i would say, I've made my own decision to take the path less taken. 99% of business grads work in town area, be it Raffles Place, Cityhall, Clark Quay, Orchard Rd, Tanjong Pagar, or even Harbour Front. I'm different, I'm in Boon Lay!!! I love Boon Lay, my army camp is there, my University is there, now my Work place is also there! I'm there for 6 years!!! COOL!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE BOON LAY!!!

Not sure if it's the right decision, but since i made that choice, i will live with it.

Whats good here??
  1. Management Trainee (sai gang warrior) rotated in 4 different divisions
  2. Oil & gas industry
  3. Send you to Houston for 1 week orientation even before you start work. (all-paid for)
  4. Work in Houston for 3 months, with housing, transport & allowances provided
  5. It's a big company with many many many companies. It takes pride in acquiring companies. 100 acquisitions in 3 years..
  6. Open culture with plenty of Ang Mos, 80% of executives you met are expats
  7. Oil & Gas industry is booming, back log till 2010, will never be retrenched before that
  8. Knock off at 5pm
  9. Dynamic industry with plenty of stuffs to learn
  10. Good Boss who's more like a buddy
  11. Free Lunches at least twice a week
  12. Company transport back home
  13. Reasonable pay & supposedly good benefits

What's bad?

  1. It's in BOON LAY!!
  2. Work starts at 8am!!
  3. IT'S FRICKING BOON LAY
  4. Not really expected to contribute much, but to learn... Ma jiam Intern
  5. Travel a long way to meet frds in town
  6. It's still in BOON LAY
  7. Little Bonuses...
  8. Not highly paid, considering it's in the Oil industry
  9. No meetups with friends during lunch, cos IT'S BOON LAY
  10. A lot of technical stuffs on millions of products....I'm a Business grad for a reason....
  11. Quite engineering, depending on positions....(the fact that I'm the only Business grad among the 5 mgmt trainees, the rest all Engineers, says it all....)

Nevertheless, Thou shall be faithful to my company since they decided to send me to Houston!!

Things to look forward to

  1. Eat krispy kreme
  2. Go shooting/hunting
  3. Ice skate in middle of shopping mall
  4. Weekend roadtrips
  5. Partying
  6. Join Haloween parties & X'mas thanks giving
  7. Shopping!!
  8. Watch Yao Ming play live basketball matches
  9. Watch live Baseball & NFL matches
